On this day in history, on 1st September 2017, the Bury Relics made their debut in the Greater Manchester Walking Football League. The Relics entered an Over 60’s team which started in Division 3.
The Relics had a good start with a 2 – 1 win against Bolton Wanderers in their first game. The Relics second game was a 0 – 0 draw against eventual league winners Wakefield Wanderers. The final game of the day for the Relics was a 2 – 0 win against Nash Bees.
Overall a great start to league life for the Bury Relics, unbeaten on the day and only conceding one goal.
At the end of that first season the Relics finished second in Division 3, just one point behind Wakefield Wanderers. A Great achievement, and a sign of things to come …
