The Relics over 70’s played Salcom in their second game of the league. The pressure was on for both teams, having lost their first games there was a lot at stake to get that elusive first win.
In atrocious conditions the Relics proved too strong for Salcom with two stunning goals from Keiran, and first ever Relics goals for Tex (a left footer too!) and Jerry gave The Relics a comfortable 4 – 1 win.
Massive thanks to Doctor John for his contribution to the match report below.

Relics 4 – Salcom 1
The Relics looked the much stronger team from the start, having the majority of the ball and putting a lot of pressure on the Salcom goal which led to Keiran’s opening goal with a great shot that the keeper didn’t even seem to see.
The Relics second goal came after a great passing move from the Relics found Tex free and a thunderous left-footed shot gave the keeper no chance for Tex’s first ever Relics goal, certainly one to remember.
Keiran’s second goal was arguably goal of the game, with a fluid and quick passing sequence involving at least 4 players, ending up with Keiran’s killer strike passed a stranded keeper.
The Relics ill-discipline resulted in a penalty for Salcom under the four offences rule which Stewart got a hand to but no keeper would save that.
The Relics kept the pressure on, and a left footed shot from distance from Jerry gave the Salcom keeper no chance again to put the Relics 4 -1 up.
Keiran and Bob were both very close to man of the match. Keiran scored twice (both were great goals) and tried really hard for his hat trick but was thwarted by the Salcom keeper on a number of occasions.
Bob made numerous important interceptions and came off concussed with blood on his shorts from a cut; a Terry Butcher like performance from Bob. Stewart had little to do for most of the game, but made important saves from a corner and also from a shot from a tight angle early on.
Relics: Stewart W (Gk), Bob D, Tex, Dave M, Peter A, Keiran (c), Jerry S, Tony P. Mgr: Keith S
