“Sir” Pat walks the walk

Relics Vice President and player Pat Fitzgerald (“Sir Pat” as he is known within the Relics) has completed his leg of the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay.

”Sir” Pat was selected for the walk following a nomination submitted by fellow Relic Iain Dawson.

“Sir” Pat was greeted by family and friends as he arrived at his starting point and was followed round to his end point. At the end of his walk ”Sir” Pat took part in the celebrations on the steps of Bolton Town Hall, and later was introduced to the Mayor of Bolton.

The Relics and Pat also got a mention in the Manchester Evening News report
“Bolton was the first part of Greater Manchester to welcome the baton, after it made its way down to the region on Saturday night from Carlisle and the Lake District, arriving in the town for a relay at around 7pm yesterday evening. Pat Fitzgerald, vice president of Bury Relics Walking Football Club, a community club founded for people over 50 which now has four teams, took part in the relay, after being nominated by a fellow player.”

Congratulation Pat, a superb and well deserved honour.
