GMWFL – COVID and Defibrillator update.

The GMWFL has issued the following statements regarding COVID and Defibrillators.

COVID
Following guidance from Rochdale Public Health, due to rising cases of the new Delta variant in the region, all players, officials and spectators attending  the GMWFL sessions at Heywood Sports Village must bring with them a negative lateral flow test result taken within a period of 24hrs prior to the session starting (Void results will not be accepted).

You can either show your test result on your mobile phone or bring the test kit showing a negative result. These free lateral flow tests can be done on home kits which are now available at a wide range of outlets/pharmacies or at a local lateral flow test centre.

On match days please let Paul Gardner have your team sheet and he will then tick off each person attending as they present their negative test result. Anyone not producing a test kit result will not be allowed in the fenced area be it players, managers, referees or officials. This will continue for all sessions in the league.

Defibrillators
In light of the recent cardiac emergency with Christian Eriksen, a discussion has taken place regarding defibrillators.

Important Message From The GMWFL Chairman Paul Gardner:

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the first aid procedures in place at Heywood sports village. Bill is correct in pointing out that Heywood sports village  have a defibrillator in the building and the staff are first aid trained. I also have a defibrillator which I take to all the league sessions, this is either on the pitch with me or if bad weather in the boot of my car (which I can access very quickly if required).

I am fully first aid trained which also includes the use of the defibrillator (I also carry a  face shield that I can use if CPR is required).
Before the start of every session I collect  a two way radio from the office in the main building, so if required I can contact the staff in the main building instantly for assistance or emergency support.

I hope that this reassures everyone attending that we put the safety of all of users as our highest priority.

Thank you, Paul
