GMWFL AGM and 2021 Spring Season Update

The Greater Manchester Walking Football League (GMWFL) has issued the following email to all clubs.

The GMWFL AGM which was due to be held next month is obviously not going to be possible due to the current restrictions. With the outlook still uncertain, we will delay the AGM until possibly the Spring/early Summer when hopefully the restrictions cease. If not, we will hold a virtual AGM in 2021 and the normal physical AGM in early 2022.

Regarding the 2021 Spring leagues, it looks almost certain that there will be no lifting of restrictions in March, possibly April and even May. We are constantly monitoring future dates for a resumption of the various leagues and with the vaccinations now being administered, we are optimistic that in a few months time we will be able to resume at least some league action.

The problem at the Heywood Sports Village is in the numbers attending each league session. normally with ten teams at each weekly session, with players, referees and spectators this can be up to one hundred people and when the maximum number restriction will be lifted is anybody’s guess.

We will keep you advised as and when we have any further news.
