The Greater Manchester Walking Football League (GMWFL) has cancelled the Spring 2021 season due to the COVID situation. In an email to all clubs the GMWFL stated …
The GMWF Spring League 2021 will not go ahead due the pandemic and the uptake of vaccinations eventually going into May and possibly June. We are very optimistic about the future and the plans are to run the Autumn League starting in September, when hopefully all players will have received the vaccination and the situation is more under control.
We look forward to welcoming back the teams from further afield who last played in the Spring Over 60s 2020 league and the older 65s and 70s age categories from the Autumn 2019 League.
A local Manchester League is planned starting in mid April on a home and away basis. We have 23 Manchester based teams from 9 separate clubs in the three age categories who have committed to this temporary league.
