Dave Seel

Dave Seel (8th July 1950 – 19th January 2020)

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Dave Seel. Dave was one of the founder members of the Bury Relics. He played in the first Relics games in the Greater Manchester Walking Football League in September 2017 and helped the Relics achieve the over 60’s Division 3 runners up spot that season in what was the Relics first season in the league. Dave has been a regular in the squad ever since then including being a member of the over 65’s squad that won the League Title in the Spring 2019 season.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Relics President Keiran Tilley said, “I’ve known Dave for a number of years, since before the Relics were formed, I recruited him into the Relics. He was a great guy, good player, solid and reliable. He will be missed by all of us at the club”
Fellow players had their own memories of Dave …
“I have had the pleasure of playing with Dave right from the start at Bury Leisure Centre he was one of the first to wear a Bury Relics shirt. A very quiet man but also very funny, its so sad” … Andy Quayle
“A very quiet unassuming man, he will be missed by all who played with him” … Gary Lomax
“Sad and shocked, He was a lovely man with a down to earth outlook and a sharp sense of humour. Like a few others I had the pleasure of playing with him in the early days, a tough opponent and a solid teammate” … Charlie Nangle
“I also had the pleasure of playing with Dave in the early days. A solid, honest and sporting player and a nice bloke as well, very sad and shocked” … Tony Marsden
