Back-to-back title wins for over 65’s

What a year 2019 has been for the Relics over 65’s team. Following on from winning the 2019 Spring Season League Title, The Relics over 65’s team has now added the Autumn Season Division 1 title to their silverware, making it back-to-back league title wins in 2019.
The Relics started the last round of four games eight points clear of Man City at the top. The Relics played City in the first game knowing that a win would secure the title. A superb chip over the sprawling City goalkeeper by Ken Buggie gave the Relics a 1 – 0 win and secured the title.

Double top for Relics

Half way through the Greater Manchester Walking Football League Autumn 2019 season, that’s 2 game days, 8 games played, and both the over 60’s and over 65’s are top of their respective Leagues. In the over 60’s league The Relics top the table by 2 points, In the over 65’s league The Relics are in a strong position 8 points clear.

Bury Sports Awards 2019

Relics coach Ken Buggie has won the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Bury Sports Awards 2019. Ken was nominated for his work with the community walking football sessions and for coaching The Relics.
In addition to Ken’s success Paul Massey from our sponsors Tower Family Healthcare was nominated for the Workforce Advocate Award.

Relics launch new kit

The Relics organised a press day at Radcliffe Borough FC to launch the new kit.
Paul Massey, Partner and Executive Director of our main sponsors, Tower Family Healthcare, along with senior doctors from the Practice were in attendance.

Battle of the sexes

The Relics enjoyed an evening with Bury FC Women Vets for some soccercise and walking football friendlies at Holcombe Brook Primary School. Fun, fitness, and football for all, strengthening the community bond and getting the word out about walking football.

Walking Football Update from Bury FC

The new year has seen continued growth in numbers at our walking football sessions, run in partnership with Bury SAPAS. The walking football sessions are headed up on the SAPAS side by former Bury FC player Lee Buggie, who has worked tirelessly to continue to grow and develop the session along with his army of volunteers.
