Another lovely day for football at Heywood and another frustrating day for the over 60’s Whites. The whites played well but only collected two points on the day.
Panthers 1 Relics 0
An early goal for the Panthers from a low hard shot from the left wing beat Gaz down on his right hand side. The Relics held their own for the rest of the game but there wasn’t any significant chances to note from either team.
Rochdale 0 Relics 0
Relics had the majority of the play but failed to score from the chances they created. Paul W had a couple of chances saved by the Rochdale keeper. Ian McK had a good twist and turn shot that went just wide, Alan B had a shot that was over the bar, and Ian McC had a late shot blocked. While Gaz only had one shot of concern, a long range effort from Rochdale that went wide.

Corinthians 0 Relics 0
The usual close encounter with Corinthians with the Relics again having he best of the chances. An early shot from Ian McC hit the bar, Kev B hhad a shot just wide followed by another effort save by the Corinthians keeper. Corinthians had one chance of note a strong shot from thr right had side that went left of Gaz’s goal. Ian McC had the final chance for the Relics from a corner that went wide.
Winstanley 3 Relics 0
Relics were outclassed by run-away league leaders Winstanley in the final game, a really strong long range shot in the first minute from distance on the Winstanley left wing took everyone by surprise and smashed into the Relics goal. Ian McK and Kev B had a couple of efforts for the Relics before Winstanley doubled their lead with another strong shot from the left wing. A Relics kick out from defence was picked up by Winstanley in the centre circle and smashed in for their third goal.
So, a difficult day for the Relics, but it wasn’t due to lack of effort from the squad of Gaz, Kev A, Ian McC, Ian McK, Alan B, Paul W, Kev B.
